The Tsum Valley Trek is a sacred Himalayan journey into one of Nepal’s most secluded and culturally rich valleys. Located in the northern part of the Gorkha district, this hidden valley was only opened to trekkers in 2008. It offers an off-the-beaten-path experience with ancient monasteries, Tibetan-influenced culture, and awe-inspiring views of mountains like Ganesh Himal, Shringi Himal, and Boudha Himal.

The word “Tsum” comes from the Tibetan word “Tsombo,” meaning vivid. True to its name, the valley offers vivid natural beauty and spiritual energy. It’s a perfect choice for trekkers looking for peace, tradition, and untouched Himalayan landscapes.

🗺️ Suggested Itinerary (16 Days)

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Pickup at the airport and transfer to hotel. Trip briefing.

Day 2: Drive to Machha Khola (930m) – 8–9 hrs

Long scenic drive via Arughat and Soti Khola.

Day 3: Trek to Jagat (1,340m) – 6 hrs

Trail follows the Budhi Gandaki River through villages and forests.

Day 4: Trek to Lokpa (2,040m) – 6 hrs

Entry into the Tsum Valley region begins here.

Day 5: Trek to Chumling (2,386m) – 5 hrs

Cross the Siyar River and explore Buddhist villages.

Day 6: Trek to Chhokangparo (3,031m) – 6 hrs

Enjoy spectacular views of Ganesh Himal and visit old monasteries.

Day 7: Trek to Nile (3,361m) – 5 hrs

Walk through remote villages and barley fields.

Day 8: Hike to Mu Gompa (3,700m), explore, and return to Nile – 4 hrs

Visit the historic Mu Gompa and Dhephyudonma Monastery.

Day 9: Trek back to Chhokangparo – 5 hrs

Descending through peaceful landscapes.

Day 10: Trek to Chumling – 5 hrs

Retrace the trail while enjoying different perspectives.

Day 11: Trek to Lokpa – 5 hrs

Pass through pine and rhododendron forests.

Day 12: Trek to Jagat – 5 hrs

Leave the Tsum region and rejoin the main trail.

Day 13: Trek to Machha Khola – 6 hrs

Walk through small Gurung settlements.

Day 14: Drive back to Kathmandu – 8 hrs

Scenic drive back and rest in hotel.

Day 15: Free day in Kathmandu

Sightseeing, shopping, or rest day.
